- Special interest in expanding the contributions of economic analysis to the formation of water and related land resource policy
- Present research is focused on development of evaluation protocols for large-scale ecosystem restoration projects, with focus on the Everglades and Coastal Louisiana; use of market incentives in environmental management; storm and flood risk management
- Published numerous professional articles and reports and served as an advisor to federal, state, and local government agencies on a wide variety of resource management topics.
- Served as a member or chair of 10 National Academy of Sciences, National Research Council Committees.
